Grade 1-Utendorf, Dawn / About Me

Hello! My name is Dawn Utendorf. It is such a privilege to be teaching FIRST GRADE at Cool Spring. I have my Masters Degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy. I love kids and helping them learn is such a rewarding experience. I have taught Kindergarten and first grade for a total of 9 years in Fairfax County and Loudoun County. I live here in Leesburg with my husband Tom and our four children. Our two older daughters, Emily and Claire are in 9th and 8th grade at Heritage HS and Harper Park MS. We have a daughter here at Cool Spring, Grace is in 3rd grade. Thomas, our son is a big preschooler and he is 5.

This year I will strive to make learning fun, build students' confidence and encourage them to take risks. First grade is such an important year for nurturing a love of school and reading. I will guide the children to go beyond what they ever thought they could do. I look forward to working with the whole family as we form a partnership that will keep your child excited, engaged and successful.
