PTA Membership Information
2012 - 2013
WHAT IS THE PTA?If you think PTA moms and dads just organize school festivals and fundraisers, you might be surprised to learn of all the other things that they do for your child’s school and teachers!
The Cedar Lane PTA consists of Parents, Teachers, and School Staff from Cedar Lane. We support and speak on behalf of the children, not only at school, but throughout the local community, state and national governments.
The Cedar Lane PTA board members and volunteers help with many things throughout the school year such as back to school preparations, teacher classroom funds, book fairs, social events, after school enrichment programs and much more.
Not only do your membership dues help support Cedar Lane, but they are also used to fund our State (VA PTA) and National PTAs. These PTAs are important because they advocate for our school and children. Some examples of how they help us include, proper funding for public schools, maintaining small class size, and school modernization. The national PTA organization collaborates on projects that benefit children and bring valuable resources to its members.
WHY SHOULD I JOIN?
Joining the PTA is a great way to get involved in your child's school! We would love to have you as a part of our team.
To Benefit Your Child: In doing so, you are also helping Cedar Lane.
Get Connected: There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.
Tap into a Network: PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, and discuss issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences. It is a good opportunity to see how you can help the teachers and discuss how they can help you or your child.
Watch Yourself Grow: By volunteering, put your skills and hobbies to use for a great cause for your child and all children in the Cedar Lane community.
Witness Improvement: Through involvement, you will be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. The PTA plays an important role in fundraising to provide building improvements, curriculum-based programs, and social events.
Be a Role Model to your Child: By being a part of PTA you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
Discover Great Resources: The PTA offers a variety of programs designed for parents as well as students.
