The Johns Hopkins Talent Search Model looks for exceptional mathematical and/or verbal reasoning abilities among fifth and sixth graders in order to provide opportunities for the full development of these abilities. This model invites students scoring at or above the 97 percentile on nationally standardized achievement tests to take the PLUS Academic Assessment, because grade-level standardized tests often do not reveal the upper limits of student ability.
The PLUS assessment provides information that can help young people recognize and develop their academic strengths. One test score, however, is not a final measure of ability, especially for students at a very young age.
